According to Dave's test, most people with regular computing work doesn't use more than 8GB of RAM with the M1 architecture. In his point of view, the upgrade to 32GB RAM is not worth with the 20% price increase from 16GB.
In conclusion, if you don't need the fastest possible build/render time for work or you just use your macs for hobbies, daily office life, then just take the base model with adequate SSD storage within your budget. You don't need to worry about its future value.
